The black turtleneck for every occasion.

Laura Rose Barth December 27, 2015

The black turtleneck for every occasion from lazy afternoons to dressing up for date night or catching a flight. My favorite version is tissue weight and only $12 at H&M (in stores). Extra holiday pounds are slimed and overheating at a party isn't a problem anymore.

Here's a similar ribbed version, or 3/4 length sleeve, also a cropped crushed velvet option.

I'm also loving the Lighting Denim from TNL'S Spring line (more here on Instagram). These fitted vintage "mom jeans" are so cozy and lived in they've made my rotation 2 out of the last 3 days. Run to grab yours at Retrofit in Bloomington! (If you happen to be there Tuesday, say hello! - I'm doing a little post holiday shopping with my girlfriends.)

Until next Sunday at 7pm - Laura

Chicago Holiday Elopement / Sasha + Chris / December 23rd

Laura Rose Barth December 25, 2015

Sasha and Chris I've only known a few short weeks, but honestly I feel we have known each other for years. They recently relocated to a quiet pocket of Lakeview with their new pup, Taco.

Sasha, a dancer from Belarus and Chris a performer originally from the Chicago suburbs fell in love while working on a cruise ship. Their jobs kept them traveling the world for months on end. Their love eventually lead them back to Sasha's childhood home where Chris proposed in a hot air balloon over Moscow. Sasha said yes, of course.

Fast forward to the last few weeks… We've made quick work of gathering their vision and style to create a dreamy elopement. Over many dress fittings, glasses of vino and color pallets we arrived at day they hoped to elope, December 23rd.

Congratulations on your first holiday as Mr + Mrs Faye!

Wishing you the Merriest Christmas! Laura Rose

3 minute formula for restyling your holiday outfits

Laura Rose Barth December 20, 2015

We know you're trying to decide what to toss in your suitcase for NYE, so I grabbed a few friends to dish our ideas.

Packing lighter and smarter is my travel mantra and items that work overtime are top of my list. (Feel like you've heard this before? Yep. NYC travel light post and here too.) I.e. a dress that fits the bill for dinner with parents and turns into festive party attire in 3 minutes umm, YESSS!

5pm Dinner with parents : dressing formula : Simple dress + tights + heels + jacket

3 min outfit transition : Add LIPSTICK! Ditch the tights. Change your shoes. Add statement jewelry.

8pm Festive party : dressing formula : Simple dress + boots + lipstick + jewelry + jacket

Did you notice what you can do with 3 minutes?! Double dipping from your wardrobe can make your holiday outfits a million times easier (let's not forget that airline weight limit, uggg!)

4 slight changes to your outfit and you are arriving in a NEW outfit. (not really, but it looks that way!) Plan ahead and choose a nail color that is festive AND transitional. It's easier to change your lip color then your nails. Give it a try and enjoy your holiday!

Catch you next Sunday at 7pm! xoxo - Laura Rose Davis

Behind the scenes : Our pal, Alison, compiled a wish list inspired by her photo shoot. Check it out here.  The vintage furrrrr Ali's wearing (and that we're all fighting over) is compliments of Retro Fit... the color changes in the light... ahh! Finish your party look warming up with a beanie from our friends at TNL. Snag yours while they're still here!

His + Hers / Snag his coat, darling

Laura Rose Barth December 13, 2015

Well friends, I'm still getting board with my own clothes. Lucky for me Clint has lots of items I love to snag. This soft grey coat from Zara Mens is top of the list.

I've also been highly influenced by Kerry Washington's character, Olivia Pope, and her unbelievable coats in the ABS series, Scandal. It's SO good, as in, worth-watching-three-times-good. Guilty, guilty, guilty.

I love the way a structured coat can finish your style -- instead of just covering up a great outfit. Here's a challenge for all of us. Hold back from buying yet another shirt (or 4) and save up for a new coat. Look for fine details and a quality cut. You can find a quality coat in all price ranges.

Enjoy your evening friends and catch you next Sunday at 7pm! xo- Laura

His + Hers / His dark floral + leather watch styled for her

Laura Rose Barth December 6, 2015

Stolen from the boys but perfect for the girls too.

When I get tired of my own clothes I start snagging Clint's. His H&M dark floral shirt just happens to be in a pattern and colors I can't get enough of. (Keep this in mind when helping your man shop!) Menswear pieces can be paired with your more feminine items to create a fresh look that's both his and hers.

I love men's accessories like his Skagen watch. (The only reason I had a chance to wear it is because its permanently 8pm... or until I get the battery changed and have to give it back.) His Skagen is one of the thinnest watch faces I've seen and so light you hardly feel it.

Hope you find as much inspiration from mixing in these menswear pieces as I do. Until next Sunday at 7pm. - Laura
