Style me charming.

Laura Rose Barth January 3, 2016

Most of my spare time lately has been dedicated to product shoots. I've been sneaking them into my schedule between our regular portrait sessions for Everyday Charming and Charming In Love. This is becoming my creative bliss. In fact, during my early morning "mental time outs" I'm finding myself wondering into creative la-la-land, dreaming up plans for my upcoming shoots. It makes me wish for more gym time. Hah, certainly a first.

Anyways, this was a crazy day last month we shot three back-to-back sessions for The Lightning Co. and Retrofit Culture. It's always a good day when you get to work with your old pals plus meet new ones too. Say hello over on Instagram @adventurer_al @thelightnighco @retrofitculture

Before I forget! Allison's delicate gold jewelry is complements of Rocksbox - if you love getting sparkly things in the mail like I do - stop by their site and pick out 3 of your favs. Make sure to use my code at check out -  LAURABFF707 - for a free month of bling, no strings. Enjoy!!

See you next Sunday at 7pm! xoxo Laura Rose

Post cards from ITALY

Laura Rose Barth September 13, 2015

I found these photos from a trip I took around Italy a few years back. Flipping through the endless files inspired me to be more purposeful in taking travel photos, not just snapping ferociously. (Old habits may die hard but now you can hold me to my new goal!)

In 8 days Clint, my sis and I will be heading to a small neighborhood in Lazio, Italy called Trastevere (Near Rome's city center).

We pooled our must see lists and came up with a photo scavenger hunt to document our trip.

Note that I didn't add relaxing...the top item on all our lists. Hah ha. I will probably be sharing the most on Snapchat (laurarosedavis) and a few pics on Instagram during the week and then right back here next Sunday at 7pm highlight images from our hunt. Ciao!

19 weeks to photo pro

Laura Rose Barth August 23, 2015

Let's push pause on our regular blog schedule for a hot minute, I've some exciting news to share.

We've needed another photographer on our team for awhile now but I've been holding out for what felt like perfect timing.

Brooke reached out to me when I posted needing a photo assistant. It was an exciting, exhausting 15+ sessions in 5 days. Here's the story that made me think maybe I had found a fit.

(As you can see 3:1 and the photographers didn't seem to be winning ... that story over on Charming Child's blog, "You can't scare me, I have kids.") #notmykids

I was caught off guard. This little but mighty girl, could she be what I was hoping and praying for? It takes a special type of crazy to fit in around here and I guess it helps she's a close relative. HAh!

What I've learned in the last year... there are few things as personally rewarding for me as championing creative people hungry to grow into their potential.

You know, just practicing for the hotdog eating contest.

Take a second to send Brooke a virtual high-five as she tackles the role of photographer-in-training the next 19 weeks. #howsmyshot

Not a minute too soon, our EC Stylist/Photo Coordinator, Jaclyn, heads to Rome this Tuesday for the semester. Expect stylish dispatches soon.

January 1st, 2016 is our target. The next 19 weeks will be a crash course in what it takes to jump in head first as a fully equipped photographer. #photoproin19weeks

Training involves food, photos, food, photos... in that order.

6. Make a camp pie
7. Create a Halloween costume for Maisy
8. Become a mentor

I need to apologize to you right now. My face may pop up often the next 19 weeks. I'm doubling as trainer and (uncoordinated) model. I figure she might as well work with a difficult subject, it only makes you better, right? Hah.

Join me in cheering Brooke to new levels each week and offering advice. We'll be keeping it real and posting progress on Instagram here and here. (also on Snapchat @laurarosedavis and @brookenelson18)

So what's our end goal? Brooke is a crazy-cool kid at heart and aspires to join our Charming Child team in 2016. I think it's worthwhile to learn not just one facet of photography, so we are covering all the Charming brand specialties in the next 19 weeks.

Until next Sunday at 7pm - Laura Rose

That's not so charming.

Laura Rose Barth July 19, 2015

Ever wonder what happens behind the scenes at a photo shoot? Here's the gritty truth that's sometimes it's a little sweaty and not so pretty.

Our new pal Kristi from TNL Denim snapped pics behind the scenes from our collaboration this weekend showing off her on point vintage denim brand, tattoosnlace.

Most often my blog features the polished, perfect, end product. On a whim, we thought it would be fun to share her perspective of us laying on the ground, climbing, sweating and looking exceptionally cool. Hah. Basically, friends, I'm hear to prove to you that being a photographer is not always so glamorous. #thatsnotsocharming #thankskristi

Here's half of the TNL/Charming collab crew on the beach today. Big huge thank you to each of them. They totally killed it and we can't wait to publish our fall lookbook with TNL Denim.

Ever considered modeling? Stay tuned for new opportunities to be featured as a guest personality right here.

Ok. So. We are getting real over here. Wanna see more of what it's REALLY like to be a  photographer? Head over to snap chat to catch an exclusive (unedited) view of what happens behind the scenes. Yep, bloopers too. Follow me on Snap Chat at laurarosedavis.

Whew, that was fun and exhausting. Catch you next Sunday 7pm. - Laura
