I had dashed off my flight home from Phoenix just minutes before. I wasn't willing to wait and left my luggage behind, promising myself I would return after the shoot to retrieve it from the airport. (Which is yet another story. Apparently we parted ways hours before- one of us for L.A. and one of us for Bloomington, IL... ugh!) Somehow I had managed to make three wrong turns while zooming across Bloomington en route to the Manor just in time to photograph the Nussbaum family. (Thankfully there was no learning curve since I've been photographing them for years now.) The grounds of the manor were littered with photographers trying to take advantage of what seemed to be the most beautiful day of October. My only advice to our group was, "try to be as obnoxious as possible and maybe they'll give us some space." Of course this didn't work. I realized then photographers are some of the boldest types of people I know. Threats of jail and large fines don't scare us. We're not afraid of the kind of weather that would keep a postman indoors. Did I mention ferocious pets, heights, poison ivy? Nah, put a camera in a person's hand and they begin to think they're invincible!
Here's what else is invincible... Hilary's style! I happily added her to my list of fashion bloggers (which I follow daily) as soon as she launched her blog, Nussbaum Fashion, late this summer. I love how she has been sharing her favorite styling tips and affordable outfits, not to mention where to find them! I am thrilled to be photographing you (and your family) once again, especially since it will be contributing to the fashion sense of the Midwest!
