I swiped Eliza's pink Givenchy shadow over her lids and gave Ali's hair one last blast of aerosol. This was the prom remix. The two best friends and I had met up one last time to photograph their gowns. Eliza and Ali are like the beauty bandits of high school. They steal the show in their sky-high stilettos and shimmery gowns. Who knew trudging around an overgrown cul-de-sac could look so glamorous? A favorite Pandora station blared Beyonce while the girls posed and told stories of their sleepless prom weekend. Ah, vitality!

The lawn was buzzing with avid gardeners and enthusiasts swapping botanical tales. A glass of chilled white wine and bite-sized pastries were in most hands as guests explored the grounds. The most attractive potting shed graced one corner, sparkling with repurposed windows salvaged from the home during a remodel. I fell in love with the lush emerald lawn as plush as any expensive rug, almost inviting you to curl up for a nap. Turning my attention to the opposite corner, a terrace offered plush seating and shade from the warm Tennessee sun, not to mention a fireplace to lounge by on cooler nights. The best tale of all was hearing how the 1920's fish pond was unearthed after years of hibernation! What a terrific discovery...

I held my SLR tightly in one hand and dodged in and out of the lighthearted crowd to document this enchanted woodland garden. My kudos to the Athena Delphian Club of Paris, TN for organizing this wonderful garden walk! I also want to recognize Mr. Jimmy Williams for his efforts, expertise and sharing his lush oasis with everyone on Sunday. I was shocked to hear Mr. Williams had visited my own family's garden shop in Illinois, what a small world! The William residence covers four acres in the heart of Paris, TN.

I wasn't in the stands, wearing a big hat or sipping mint juleps. Instead, I was on the couch watching the grand event unfold. In between styling hair and make up for the Paris Prom, (which was an absolute blast!) I took in the extravagant styles of the derby's best. I've been looking forward to the Kentucky Derby for weeks now. Especially since traveling through beautiful Kentucky horse country a few weeks ago. (If you missed my KY photos check them out here.) Derby fashions were everything I imagined them to be this year. I fell hard for the black and white ensembles as well as the earth tones matched with floral. Hands down Jeannie Mai (from the Style Network) stole the show in her bright yellows and wild print. Thanks to her, my fear of red glossy lips is gone!

Perhaps it was the hundreds of hours we spent together, or the down pour, or my broken umbrella, or the little sleep we've had, but Dave and I found ourselves having a healthy marital argument on the sidewalk amongst all the other Bostonians. Thankfully, no one stopped to stare as we had a melt-down-moment... I can't even remember over what. Neither of us are good at staying mad for long, hence, the flower shop and a stop for cupcakes at Sweet. I blame my friends at Cream and Flutter for my acquired sweet tooth, but the raspberry cupcake with lemon buttercream frosting certainly smoothed things over... read the rest of the story here.
